We use education as a means to secure lucrative career opportunities and high-paying jobs. However, education is not the only path to success. Getting the right job and being successful in it does not always require a degree. Not every high-paying job needs your degree. There are many general jobs that don’t require a degree but proper training, knowledge in that field of business, creativity, time management and patience.

  • Photographer: This is one lucrative profession that does not need a college degree. However, being a photographer, you have to love the art of doing business as much as you love the art of taking photos. Income may vary from one photographer to another depending on the type, place and duration of photography. You may choose to do photography in any line including wildlife, wedding, journalism, events, commercial, etc. If you can build your own photography business, you will have the ability to grow your business and earn very high income over time. The only skills required in this profession are creativity, camera proficiency, marketing, networking, negotiation, pricing, contract, etc.
  • Bookkeeper: Handling any company’s books will not require a degree. You will have to handle the financial records such as recording financial transactions, reconciling bank account statements, managing payroll, managing accounts receivable and payable, invoicing clients, updating balance sheet, P/L statement, trial balance, etc. of a company. For this, you do not need a post-secondary book learning and degree certificate.
  • Heavy truck driver: Being a heavy truck driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods and machinery from one place to another, both over short and long distances. This is required because every business will need to physically deliver the products even though there are many technological improvements. You will have to attend and complete professional truck-driving and have a high school diploma at least. You will also require a commercial driving license. You may at times need to load and unload cargo, keep the cargo safe and keep all the documents safely with you.
  • Make-up artist: A career in freelance make-up artistry will not require your degree but you need to have the knowledge of the beauty industry, professional training for this course, creativity, time management and business sensibility. This is one profession that will keep you busy the whole year, especially during the wedding seasons and that is when you will earn the most.The income will fluctuate depending on the type of requirements of people, size of the bridal party, and the number of people to cater to in the wedding. You need to know the art of making people feel good and refreshed with their new looks.
  • Carpenter: Carpenters have to inspect, install, repair, rebuild, modify, construct and maintain the woodwork. This job will require you to get exposed to the dirty areas, restricted places, extreme temperatures, intense noise, etc. You may have to lift or carry heavy objects. But this profession does not require a degree and the payment is quite high because people will always appreciate quality work of good carpenters.
  • First-line supervisor of retail sales staff: Being a first-line supervisor of the sales workers will enable you to be in charge without any requirement of a degree. It involves supervising and coordinating all the activities of retail sales staffs. You work will include supervisory duties and management functions like budgeting, purchasing, accounting and managing personnel work.
  • Receptionist: No one needs to be an executive or a model or have a degree in order to be the face of a company just because you may be the first impression of the company. Your work will include answering phone calls, transferring the calls, having a one-on-one conversation with any guest or client, fetching coffee for the waiting clients, etc. Your role would be to set the right tone for a successful business.
  • Food service manager: Your task is to be responsible for daily operations in a restaurant. You will have to direct the staff on what to do, how to do so as to ensure the satisfaction of every customer and also manage the restaurant business to assure profitability. For this job, you do not need a degree but you have to have some years of experience in this industry in order to work in five-star restaurants.
  • Real estate sales agent: As an agent, you will have to help your clients to buy, sell or rent properties. Usually, this job does not need a degree but a high school diploma can be enough to flourish in this industry. However, you will have to complete a number of courses in this industry and pass the license test to get licensed for such a job.
  • Power distributor: You will have to coordinate as well as regulate the power systems in order to generate steam or electricity. Being a power distributor and dispatcher, you may have to undergo extensive job training but you do not require a degree. You may have a high school diploma or equivalent so as to get this kind of job.
  • Gaming manager: You have to plan, innovate and coordinate the gaming operations at the casinos. This job offers a very lucrative income without having to attain any degree course.
  • Media equipment worker: If you wish to be a media or communication equipment worker, then you just have to ensure that the video and audio systems of radio, TV, and all other media run smoothly without a glitch. For this, you do not need a college degree.
